The status of Osteopathy in Israel
The current situation in Israel is that no legislation exists and therefore anyone can open up a clinic and call themselves an osteopath. As a result, the Israeli Osteopathic Association (IOA) was established in 1991 in order to protect the good name of osteopathy and more importantly the public. The IOA only accepts as members, osteopaths who have qualified from schools with a minimum of 4 years full-time training that includes a minimum of 1500 hours of clinical experience under supervision.
All members of the IOA are committed to continuing professional development and must have indemnity insurance. Every member of the IOA is bound by a constitution and a code-of-ethics.
